a small group food tour for curious Kiwis
It started with a trip to Sicily with an old friend. Good food, better wine, and a lot of storytelling later — Taste of Tours was born.
Now we’re inviting a small group of fellow Kiwis (max 12 guests) to experience Sicily the way we did: eating in local restaurants, ducking into local kitchens & learning to make pasta and caponata, understanding a place through the food and the people.
This isn’t a bus tour ticking off sights. It’s a real taste of Sicily — with a Kiwi host who loves this island and sharing it with you, so all you have to do is turn up hungry.
Our Taste of Sicily tour start in the bustling capital of Palermo and wind our way to the foot of Mount Etna. On the way we will discover the amazing world of Sicilian wines, taste local delicacies, dine in a pilazzo, in a bustling market, we’ll picnic by ancient ruins, watch the sun set of the Valley of Temples. We’ll taste local chocolate, cheese, olive oil, nuts and so much more.
Expect 11 days jam packed with delicious delights and spectacular sights (including UNESCO and archaeological sites).
We’ll visit a local cheese maker preserving their local cheese, wander through local markets, visit ancient salt pans, get hands on with cooking classes.
This is a small group all-inclusive tour created for fellow Kiwi travellers includes all breakfasts, lunches and most dinners as well as 4 star accommodation in beautiful hotels, all excursions listed including two cooking classes, wine, cheese, olive oil and chocolate tastings. A driver, local guide and Kiwi tour host. Trust us you will be well looked after!

FAQ
Is this tour physically demanding?
Expect a reasonable amount of walking on cobblestones and some full days on your feet, but nothing athletic — this tour is designed for travellers who want to move at a relaxed, food-and-culture pace rather than an endurance race.
This tour is NOT suitable for anyone using a wheelchair or walker, and you’ll need to get in and out of a minivan unaided. Many of Sicily’s towns are pedestrianised old towns, so the only way to explore them is on foot — think cobblestones and a few hours on your feet, not a half marathon, but worth preparing for. If you have any concerns at all, just ask us before booking.
What’s the average age of guests?
Most of our travellers are aged 50 to 70, and many have travelled together before or booked solo. You’ll be in good company.
I’m travelling solo — will I be the odd one out?
Not at all. Solo travellers are very welcome, and our small group size means everyone gets to know each other quickly. Our Single supplement for Taste of Sicily is $2600.
What’s not included?
International flights to Sicily are not included, but we’re happy to help point you in the right direction, including options like catching an overnight train from Rome to Palermo.
How far in advance should I book?
Our small group size means tours fill quickly — often with only a handful of spaces left within weeks of announcing. We’d recommend booking as soon as a destination and date interests you.
